Scribe and Mal froze in their tracks when the alarms went off. A veil of thick of cold mist moved with them. As much the Virtou disliked using ice magic, they could see any invisible lasers that could have been in their way. He didn't know Mal's grafted in computer had equipment built in to do the same thing the dragon man did with his magic.
The dragon panther peered behind them, then nudged Scribe towards a open doorway.
"What are you doing?" Scribe protested. Mal didn't make any attempt to respond until his mismatched rear crossed the threshold. However, he didn't need to as the Virtou saw armed guards run by the darkened room, ignoring the five glowing eyes in the shade. "Ok. Nevermind,"
Mal whined when he saw another set of guards of streak by, especially at the electrically charged sticks they wielded. Scribe's claw muffed the experiment before they drew attention.
"This is one of those instances I wish I was someone else. I would know you better if I was Nix. It's a little bit vexing that you understand what I say but...the reverse isn't true." Scribe crouched down in front of Mal. "What did they do to you?"
Mal's eyes dilated, become a lighter tinge of blue, the life readings foretold of another being in the room. Nearly smacking Scribe with his tail, he jumped and growled in the darkness. Scribe was more concerned about the constant shouting and warning sirens outside, but he did manage to see movement go by the corner of his eyes. "Show yourself!"
"Don't hurt me… I'm here to help." The room illuminated, revealing a multi-tailed fox in a pitch-black garb. His big ears pointed straight up, matching his raised arm. The other rested against the light switch.
Neither believed him. "Mal…" Scribe pointed. "Get him." The experiment lunged and pinned the person against the wall with his pincers. The fox had to move his head constantly to avoid Mal's violent snapping jaws. His multiple white tails pressed against the wall like spider's legs.
"You have to believe me! If I was one of them I would have shouted when they went by!"
He couldn't easily dismiss that logic, but after their encounter with Mink he had to be leery. His prince was in danger. "Mal…"
Mal roared at his catch while his barbed tail rose, pointed right for the fox's neck.
"Please! I'll tell you anything!"
There was only one answer to that. "Where are they keeping the prisoners?"
"I'll take you to them! Just call this thing off!"
Scribe took one last look at their surroundings. A bunch of empty beakers and sinks. Along with a pair of cabinets next to the fox and Mal. "Fine but, you're going to lead so I can keep my eye on you. Don't try anything, otherwise my colorful friend here is going to have a little leg of fox understand?"
"Yes yes!"
The Virtou tapped Mal on the head. "Let him go." The experiment growled in disgust, his barbed tail whipped around, resting on when Mal was back on all fours. Several times the tail nearly struck Scribe. "Move it."
The fox hurried by, waiting until he was out in the hall before giving a brief vicious smirk.
Perfect.
Their captive followed through on his word, leading him down from red lit corridors and past many locked rooms. Stopping only when they found their path hindered by a laser array. "This is it."
Scribe growled under his breath. His bladed tail moved in agitation. There was no system around to disable the security, and he was quite certain that the switch was not inside. So close yet so far.
"Tell me why is a shirtless Virtou and a Kingdom Beast roaming these corridors? You know who runs this. It's suicide. Especially when they catch you." The fox mused, peering past the lasers.
"That's none of your concern."
"Look, I'll be honest here. I was paid to do some damage here. You two are holding me up with your incompetence."
"A mercenary?" The dragon warrior shook his head, "I don't care. We have to get these people out. You're going to help us."
"You're lucky that my job coincides with that. We need to find the main security room. We can disable the system from there. There is one problem though..." Whatever fear the fox possessed was long gone, his dark yellow-green eyes were colder than the Zon's frozen wastes of the north.
"I don't care. Do you know where it is?"
"Of course but…"
Mal snarled his anger, his tail arced over targeting the mercenary's body.
"Alright. Alright. You need to do one thing though."
Scribe and Mal exchanged a confused look. "What's that?"
"Fight well." The fox held his hand in one of the laser paths.
The Virtou snarled as their prisoner suddenly vanished before their eyes. Mal's snout tried to find the scent but it too was gone.
"Freeze!" Machines and guards came from around the corners. "Hold it right there!" One of them shouted.
"Mal... " Scribe cracked his knuckles while he faced down the defense droids that came out. Maxima wanted him to fight like he used to. For his prince he definitely will do just that. He turned to the side, with his legs spread apart. His left arm was straight down parallel to his front leg, while the right balled up in a fist held close to his chest. The tailblade sweeped lazily along the ground. "Don't overdo it hmm? Nix is waiting for you."
The mention of the Ki'Na sent him into a frenzy. Scribe couldn't know how often the guards abused the beasts, himself especially since he was Mother's only legitimate offspring. Not unlike the hundreds of abominations that roams the Kingdom, including what they turned his mother into. Even when he was given to Berk and the thieves the mistreatment didn't stop. It was Nix that showed the concern and love that lost to him. Nix's pet roared at the human figures. It's tail and antennae pointed directly at the guards. There was no fear in its lone eye. It took in the position of every guard. What would have surprised the dragon man with him was the fact Mal's computer didn't elevate the danger level at all. Even with such heavy firepower at Mal's back and the numerous guards before him. It remained normal.
Ceros grinned to himself as the fight instantly went into a fever pitch. They we're perfect patsies while he did what he had to. He'll help them sure, in the end he would profit more than them. It was funny how they thought, they had him in trouble. He shut off the invisibility given to him from his Hybrid genes. Calculating yellow-green snake eyes stared at the main security room door. "I hate getting my fur dirty but…" He banged on the door and stepped to the side, restoring his invisibility. A guard foolishly peered out, only to get snatched up from behind and dragged off to the side. His head appeared just to the left of the struggling sentry.
"Hope your life was good." Ceros sharply bit down into the guard's neck, through the thick armor. Sirins genes were perfect for his line of work. Already the poison from his fangs took effect, the loud death gurgle from the guard caused the other one to come out. Only to find a handgun pointed at his head. Five seconds later two departed guards lied at his feet.
"Let me help those losers out. I hope they brought that girl… So much to do in so little time."
